  We come to Louisbourg every time we are in Cape Breton. The Grubstake happened to be the only restaurant open. It was pretty dead for the day (believe it was a Sunday), we had the seafood chowder which was thin and watery and no real substance to it, not how a chowder should be. We ate fish and chips and bacon burger. The food was bland and left much to be desired. Two meals and two beers it was $70! Being that close to the ocean, you'd think the seafood would be better and not so severely overpriced. Go to the Lobster Kettle down the road instead. Great views and much much better food!

  Our server was very polite and helpful. The hot turkey sandwich I had wasn't quite what I was hoping for but my group all loved their meals. A good place for even large groups. (they easily accommodated our six and then another group of twelve that came in. The main seating area is quite nice. I noticed the owner responds to Google reviews, which in my mind demonstrates a lot of care in the business.

  My wife and I had excellent seafood meal's. I am generally not a big fan of fish, but my wife had such a good experience with haddock in the area, I had to try it. It was excellent, among the best fish I gave eaten. He scallops were excellent as well. For dessert we made a special request they were able to accommodate and the blueberry pie with local wild blueberries was just right. Service was attentive and thus was an overall very nice vacation experience
